Cotswold Classic 2025 – Post race email
Hey All
Well, I hope everyone enjoyed today and isn’t quite as sunburnt as I am ?
Firstly, thank you all for choosing 113 Events for your Middle Distance racing. It means a lot to us that you entrust us with your race experience, and without you guys all entering and racing with us, it simply couldn’t happen, so thank you.
I think today was the toughest conditions we’ve ever had in our 14 years and 29 Middle Distance races to date, and I can only imagine how hard it was for all of you out on the course, so hats off to you all.
It’s also the first time we’ve ever had to ban wetsuits, and I have been losing sleep over that for the last few nights, but we were all seriously impressed with just how well you all handled it, and I’d even go as far as to say that we’ve potentially created a few non wetsuit swim converts who have seen that it can be possible, albeit a little tougher, but still a nice experience
Anyway, this is the final email you’ll get from me about the Classic, so in this email I’ll cover the following :
How fast you went and how fast you looked doing it
Lost property and stuff at the lake
Next year’s races
How fast you went and how fast you looked doing it
I’m guessing that most of you are only interested in this bit, so I’ll do this first
You can find the full race results HERE
The photographer will have pictures uploaded ready for you to see tomorrow morning ish HERE
Lost property and stuff at the lake
A few of us will be back at the lake tomorrow most of the day going through the final tidy up stages, and getting everything counted and back into storage for next year
We have a load of lost property in a box down at the lake, as well as left over shirts etc.
If you’re in the area still and fancy popping along, please come and see us and we can go through what we have and see if we can find anything you’ve left behind. We also have a load of left over gels and shirts, which you’re welcome to come and grab as these only get binned before our next race in 11months time
Alternatively, if you’ve lost something and can’t get there tomorrow, please go on Google Images and find a pic of something the same as the lost item, send it over to me and I’ll see if it’s in our box and get it out in the post to you in the coming days
What did you think of the race
Although we’ve had a post race team beer tonight (please see pic above), we’ll sit and have a proper debrief as a team on Thursday night once the dust has settled, and we all have a better idea of what went on over this weekend.
We try and see and understand as much about the race as possible, but all of you see it with a totally different set of eyes, and it’s your experience on the day that means so much to us
Please let me know what you enjoyed and what you didn’t enjoy as without knowing that, we can’t then do more or less of those elements of the race experience in order to make the race improve year on year.
We already have a few tweaks planned for next year, and the two sections of sub standard road surface near to the lake are both in hand with the council to either be sorted for next July, or we have a course tweak planned that avoids it.
Anyway, please let me know what you think and anything we can do to make the race better going forwards
Next year’s races
Although this year’s race dust has barely settled, we’re already in full swing with getting next year’s races fixed and ready to open in a couple of weeks
The provisional dates are June 6th for the Cotswold 113, and July 12th for the Classic.
These dates should be fixed in the next 10 days or so, and entries will open towards the end of the month
I will send an email out to you all once they’re fixed and when they’re going to open for entries
We also will continue our groups and clubs entries, as these now account for a good chunk of our competitors, so if you didn’t benefit from this in 2025, and you could potentially have 5 or more people come from your group/club, please get in touch and I can give you all the info on the group entry system where you can save a few quid on entry, and also have automatic racking with each other, off in the same wave and we can produce separate results for your club if you wanted to make it a club championship, or even an inter club championship if you wanted to challenge another club
Anyway, that really is it for me for this year’s races (which I’m sure many of you will likely be quite glad about)
I’m truly hoping that you’re all currently sat with your feet up and a beer or glass or wine in hand, and please be very proud of what you all achieved today in some really very tough conditions. You’ve all been amazing competitors, and our team truly appreciate your high spiritis on days like today when it would’ve been so easy to throw in the towel
Thanks again for choosing 113 Events to race with, and if you enjoyed the day, please tell all your mates as that the best form of advertising in Triathlon, and please also come back next year and either race with us or join us on the red team as a marshal.
Cheers and happy recovery
