The following email went out to all Cotswold 113 2024 competitors tonight :
Cotswold 113 – Competitor newsletter #6
Hey All,
We’re only 3 sleeps away now from welcoming you all along to the Cotswolds
This will be the last email you will get from me now before race day, so here’s the final few bits to go through before you travel down to us this weekend
In this email, I’ll cover the following :
What you might have missed and need to catch up with
Does your bike need a tune up, or new bling ordered
Race briefing video
Spectators at the race
Tracker and results
Weather for the weekend
What you might have missed and need to catch up with
Hopefully, you’ve all read and digested pre race newsletters number 4 and 5 ?
If you haven’t then please head to www.113events.com/news where you can find them as they have everything you need for this weekend including a link to the race info pack, and also info on the BTF race passes, what you need for registration in terms of ID etc and how and when you can do various things.
Does your bike need a tune up, or new bling ordered
If your bike needs a few tweaks, or you just want an expert to cast an eye over it pre race, then we have our friend Tim from Speedhub at the race all weekend with his shop and his workshop set up so you can have some last minute dialling in done.
If you want to book in with him for a tune up slot on Saturday afternoon, drop him an email at speedhubuk@icloud.com
He’ll do a pre race check over for £10 which is really decent value for bike work, and that’ll include :
Check drive train is running properly
Check brakes are working
Check everything is tightened and race ready
He’ll also have the full shop there, so if you need anything bringing along, just drop him a mail and he’ll put it in the van and bring it down on Saturday. He sells race belts and goggles, which everyone seems to forget, and can even bring you down a full new bike if you fancied splashing out (I wouldn’t recommend that, although I have seen it done)
Race briefing video
If you want to see what 16hour days and pre-event sleepless nights looks like, here’s the pre race briefing video with mine and Dave’s faces for Radio telling you all about the race, and taking you through some important safety aspects of the day
Anyone that’s raced with us before might be surprised how quiet ‘Shouty’ Dave is in the video, but he actually gets really camera shy, much to my amusement
It’s important that everyone does watch this please
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjw3rekGuOY
We’ll then hold two non compulsory briefings at the lake on Saturday at 13:00 and 16:00 where we’ll go through everything in much more details, and try and help you all with some tips on the race, and what to bring etc to where. These will be by the Swim exit, and they’ll take about 45 sit minutes.
Spectators at the race
When you arrive on Saturday to the car park, you’ll be given a wrist band that gets you in the gate at the Beach and Country park, and you can make your way through there to Lake 32 where the registration is (it’s about a 300m walk)
The same will go for Sunday, and anyone you have coming along later that uses our carpark will get the same type of wrist band, so they can walk through the beach and Country park to the race start and finish area
The important bit to this is that the Beach and Country park have very strict control of numbers in their area for waterside activities, such as the beach itself and the kids beach adventure area.
Subsequently, please can you ask any spectators that are coming along to watch you, that of course they’re welcome to go through the B&CP area, but it’s super important that they don’t try and head down onto the beach or the kids beach area, as they operate their day tickets based on their own capacity, and if we start having people using those areas too, they could get into a world of trouble, which in turn gets me into a world of trouble.
It’s a really cool place to go though, and contains about 30% of our run course, so if you have people that want to book into there, to not only use their facilities, but also park literally against the edge of our transition, they can do so by booking in advance at https://www.cotswoldcountryparkandbeach.com/
The weather forecast for the weekend is decent, and being the end of school holidays, it’ll be busy, so you’ll need to book in advance

Spectators, can of course spectate anywhere else on the bike and run courses, just won’t be allowed onto the beach please, unless they’ve booked in with the B&CP.
Tracker and results
If your family, spectators etc want to track you on the day, we’ll have a link up to the live results and tracking over the next couple of days at https://www.113events.com/cotswold-113/results/
Weather for the weekend
I really am trying my hardest not to Jinx it, but the forecast for Saturday and Sunday is looking pretty decent

We’ve had a fair amount of rain this week, which has brought the Lake temp down to around 19deg, and that should possibly climb to maybe 20-21 by Sunday, which is almost perfect swimming conditions
The run course is largely in very good condition, and any damp sections should be dry by Sunday too. It’s still 99.9% good surface conditions, and the muddy bits currently account for maybe 40m of a 7,000m lap
Right, that really is it for me for pre race emails, so you won’t hear from me again until Sunday night
We’ll look forward to seeing everyone this weekend, and thanks again for choosing to race with us
Enjoy the last few days of your taper and see you in a few days
I’ll have access to my emails for the rest of this week, but it’ll be limited to evenings as I’ll be at the lake all day (as I have been since Monday), so apologies if I don’t get back to as quickly as I would do normally
Cheers
