Hey All
Firstly, thank you all very much for coming racing with us. We saw some unreal people achieve some amazing things today, and we’ve had Smiles, tears and some proper shows of emotion at the finish line this afternoon, and it’s been a great experience for our team seeing this unfold before our eyes.
We’ve now finished up at the lake for the day, and had our customary Post race team beer and pizza (pic above), and I sincerely hope that you’re all now sat with your feet up somewhere with a beer and some junk food to get your recovery started the proper way
Anyway, we truly hope that everyone enjoyed the day today, and although we had a few issues behind the scenes, we hope that they didn’t impact your day in any way – Largely, we had a palaver with the parking, but have an easy fix for that going forwards, and the lake’s cafe had a kitchen fire early this morning, so couldn’t do any hot drinks or food for spectators or competitors 🙂
Also, whoever managed to book the weather today, compared to the what the forecast was telling us, a massive thanks from us, and please can you bring your weather luck back again soon. The forecast was horrendous for wind today, and we even kept down a lot of our finish line branding so it didn’t blow into the lake, and it turned out breezy, but basically ok
I expect you’re all pretty bored of my emails now, so I’ll keep this one pretty brief and let you all get back to your beers
In this final Cotswold 113 2025 email, I’ll cover the following
Fancy having another go in 6 weeks time for a discounted rate
How fast you went and how good you looked doing it
Fancy joining the team with us in July
Feedback
2026 races
Lost property at the lake
Spreading the word
Fancy having another go in 6 weeks time for a discounted rate
As a few of you might already know, we run two middle distance races from the same lake in the Summer. The July 13th Cotswold Classic Middle Distance race uses the same Swim and Run courses as today’s 113, and is run by completely the same team, but the bike course heads West out towards Kemble and Malmesbury, and although is still very fast, is more ‘Gently rolling’ than the Pancake flat profile of today’s 113. I actually prefer the July course as it flows better, and is generally a faster course for most, and none of the small climbs are really even notable in comparison to other parts of the UK
Anyway, we run a Combo entry discount for people that enter both at once at the start of the sign up process. That combo saves you around £50 for entering both.
Therefore, as we still have around 90 of the 650 slots left for that race (that race has always been slightly smaller than the June 113), I wanted to extend that offer out to anyone that entered today’s 113 if you wanted to race with us in 6 weeks time agaoin
If so, just drop me back an email, and I’ll send you a £50 discount code*
*£50 for is individual/Relay entries, but if you wanted to do the July Classic as a Solo or Aquabike, we can still offer £30
How fast you went and how good you looked doing it
I appreciate this is probably the only bit in this email you’re interested in, but as follows are the links for both the race results and the photographers page
Fancy joining the team with us in July
Hopefully you all enjoyed the support of our amazing marshals today ?
As anyone that’s every organised an event will tell you, getting marshals is one of hardest parts of the sport, and we still need a fair few more for our next race on July 13th, so if you fancied seeing the race from the other side and earning a £50 discount on next year’s races (or £20 cash) and have free camping/parking and a great day out, we’d absolutely love you (and your friends/family) on the team, and you can even join us for a beer and pizza afterwards if you can put up with us any longer than just the race
if you’re interested, just drop me an email at graeme@113events.com
Feedback
As you hopefully have seen, I’m super anal about details on our races to make them super inclusive/friendly for everyone, and try and control absolutely everything that I possibly can. As a team, we very much try and make the race to be the race that we’d always want to do, and for everything to flow safely and smoothly in a way that allows you to really enjoy your day out with us.
However, the team are my eyes and ears, and although we can see most things, we don’t get an appreciation of the athlete experience other than what we hear from you guys.
Therefore, if any of you experienced anything that you partially loved or really didn’t love, please can you let me know and I’ll feed it back into the team in our debrief later this week.
Even though this was our 28th running of our middle distances now, it’s a constantly evolving thing, and we constantly make tweaks and changes to everything having analysed the race in minute detail at the debrief once the dust settles this week, but we need to know what you guys/girls didn’t or did like please
I’m conscious that we had an issue with parking this morning, and I’m sorry if that stressed anyone out unnecessarily, and we have a fix for that already. The same with the racking being pretty tight, as we hire that in, and they tried to shaft us a bit by providing less which we weren’t aware of until late saturday night when it gets put up 🙁 Again, another easy fix for us next time
2026 Dates
Our 2026 dates are not totally fixed yet, but are looking at the first Sunday in June again, and the 2nd Sunday in July.
We have most of our approvals going forwards, and will have those dates fixed Mid July with online entries opening later July/Early August
I’ll keep everyone posted in our general mailing list, and promise not to bombard you with loads of junky emails, but you can, of course unsubscribe any time
Lost property
We’ve got a reasonable amount of lost property at the lake that’s been handed in today, and we’ll be back down there tomorrow morning from about 08:30 if anyone wants to swing by and have a rummage through our box. Alternatively, if you’re not still in the area, drop me a mail with a ‘Google images’ type picture of what you’ve lost, and if we have it, I’ll get it in the post later this week when I’m back (I’m away Tuesday/Wednesday on something else)
Hopefully, everyone had a great day today. And if you did, the most powerful form of marketing in triathlon by miles is word of mouth, so we’d really appreciate if you could tell everyone how great it was and for you to come back again soon (with your mates)
I’d love to see a few of you again in July, and I know we already have a few that are booked in already, but if not, it’d be great to have you back on our start lines next summer or one day in the future. The Groups and Clubs entry was really popular this year accounting for over 50% of entries, and this is something we’ll certainly continue going forwards
Thanks again for choosing 113 Events to race with, and we truly do appreciate you putting your trust in us for your Middle Distance racing experience
Enjoy your recovery time, and hope you’re all back up and racing again soon
I’m off to bed now as I’ve had approx 8 hours sleep in the last 72 hours, but will pick emails up over the next few days
Cheers
Graeme, Nicci and the 113 Events team
