The following email went out to all Cotswold226 2016 Competitors today
Cotswold226 – Ten Days time 🙂
Hi All
Sorry, I know I said I wouldn’t be sending out any more info, but I just wanted to drop you all a quick email with a few final points before race day.
It’ll only be a short email, so I promise not to send any of you to sleep with this one
In this mail, I want to quickly cover the following points ;
Water Temp Update
Marshal recruitment
Race briefing
Race info pack and start lists
Water temps
The lake is measuring in at an almost perfect 19deg currently. We’re forecast reasonable weather on the long range stuff currently, so I can’t see that changing too much between now and race day. The BTF allow us between 14 and 24deg for it to be the ‘Wetsuit Optional’ Range, so we won’t be either banning or making wetsuits compulsory on race day unless we have a 40deg heat wave next week, or a sudden blast of snow and ice.
Marshal recruitment
As anyone that’s been involved in organising races will know, getting marshals is one of the hardest parts of putting these events on
We’re still short on marshals for this year’s 226, so if you have anyone travelling down with you that could get involved, please give them a nudge to see if they’re interested in being part of the team. They don’t need any experience at all, and we’ll provide them with a full briefing and everything they need on the day
As it’s such a long day, we break the marshalling duties down into shifts on the day ;
Bike Course 05:45-14:30 depending on position on the course
Run shift 1 10:00-16:00
Run shift 2 15:30-22:30 latest
We pay our marshals too, so they’ll get ;
£20 Cash or a £50 113 Events/DBmax voucher (we run the 226 in conjunction with Dbmax)
An event team technical T-shirt
Free food and drink all day
If you can please press gang in your friends, enemies or workmates, please get in touch at graeme@113events.com
Race Briefing
We will hold the compulsory briefing on race morning just before you get in the water. Due to the fact those most people will have their race heads on and most of the briefing will either go in one ear and out the other, or just be ignored completely, we’ve opted to hold and unofficial and non compulsory briefing on the Saturday afternoon for anyone that wants to attend
Where the compulsory Sunday briefing takes just a few minutes and contains the important stuff for the day only, the Saturday briefing will take 20-30minutes and we’ll go through everything you need to know
This will take place at 14:30 on the Saturday next to the swim start. It’s a good chance to hear everything from your info pack plus a bit more, and also a good chance to ask any last minute questions you might have to myself and the team
Competitor info pack and start list
If you’ve not already found it, you can download and print the 226 tri Competitor info pack HERE
It’s worth taking the time to print this off and read it in full as it contains everything you will need to know in the run up to race weekend. Personally, I read these things on the toilet as that’s the best place for no interruptions, but where you read yours is up to you 🙂
The start list for the race can also be found HERE
I’ve made this in an excel format so you can manipulate how you see fit
Right, that’s it from me. Short and sweet as promised, and I hoe you’re all as excited about race weekend as we are
We’re here to help, so if you get any questions between now and race weekend, please feel free to give me a ring – 07595 591612
Cheers and happy tapering
Graeme, Nicci, James and the 226 team
