Happy new year all
It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything up here, so I thought now was a good chance to bring people up to speed on this year’s races.
There’ll be competitor newsletters going out for everyone that’s already entered the races, so this is just a broader update for everyone else.
As some of you will know, myself and Nicci tested Positive for Covid 19 towards the end of last year, but are now fully back up and running again, so thanks for all the well wishes we’e received.
This year’s Middle Distance races are as follows :
June 6th Cotswold 113
July 11th Cotswold Classic
The June 6th Cotswold 113 has been sold out since late Oct, and is running an automated Waiting list through the entry portal. This list is currently at around 125 names.
Like the July Classic, we’ve limited entries for 2021 to 1000 (Traditionally 1250) as having run two ‘Covid Safe’ races in 2020, we’re very confident that we can run in the same manner with 1000 entries on the start list.
If (and this is a big if) things start to look promising regarding Covid in the Spring, we’ll put the remaining 250 slots back into the pot and they’ll get offered through the waiting list first.
We have no idea how things are going to pan out this year with regards to restrictions, and whilst I appreciate other events are selling slots based on their normal capacities, I’d honestly say that we can run 100% safely with a reduced number, than potentially putting anyone at risk by running with the traditional start list size should we still have restrictions in place.
Ultimately, safety is our number 1 priority for everyone that trusts us by lining up on our start line, and we have no idea of how things are going to be the summer.
Our Cotswold Classic Middle distance race on July 11th still has around 300 of 1000 slots remaining, and this race is identical in to the June 113 in every way other than name or date
Historically, this race has been in August, but understandably, the Waterpark area wanted us to move it out of the Summer holidays as this is their busiest time, so we’ve moved it to mid July, and this is roughly the date it will continue with moving forwards
2021 is also going to be 113 Events 10th Birthday, so we’ll look at ways we can make this year’s races extra special as a way of celebrating our first major milestone
Right, that’s it for my rambling today. I’ll get newsletters out to our entered competitors this week, and will keep reasonably active on our facebook and twitter pages from now on now myself and Nicci are back up and running properly again
Cheers
Graeme
