Cotswold226 & 113 Classic 2016 Races
Good morning all, I hope this email finds you all well? With our June Cotswold113 race now full, I wanted to drop you out a quick mail to let you know about our other 2016 races.
Cotswold226 is arguably the flattest and fastest ‘Iron Distance’ race in the UK. Like our other events, we have fully stocked aid stations, motorcycle support, referees and Police closed sections as well as some of the most enthusiastic marshals in the world of Triathlon. Cotswold226 has that big race feel to it, but with the friendliness and flexibility of the smaller races at a more affordable and realistic entry fee.
New for 2016 is the 226Wknd events, where we’ll be running a 1.9 & 3.8km timed swim on Saturday the 16th July, and a timed 90 & 180km Tri Rules sportive on the Sunday running alongside the 226 bike section itself on the same course.
Unlike other sportives, there’ll be strictly no drafting, and the rules will be as per the 226 race itself, so it’s a perfect way to either have a go at the distance, or to sharpen you bike course training for a later season long distance race. We’ll have a secure transition, and a short run course laid out too, if you wanted to make it a brick session. We’ll have medals for all, and prizes for the fastest times on the course.
The 226 sportive will have the same aid stations, moto marshals and referees as the 226 itself, and sportive competitors will be differentiated from the 226 competitors themselves by a different coloured race number.
For 226 competitors, then we’ll also be holding a free of charge familiarisation day, where competitors and their friends can come along to the lake, and have a guided lap of the swim, bike and run courses at a leisurely pace. We’ll email all competitors soon with the details, but the date is going to be June 19th.
Set on the same Flat, fast course as the June Cotswold113, the Cotswold Classic has a more end of season feel to it, and has become popular with many clubs and groups to be used a Club championship or just a good old fashioned end of season mates race.
We can group clubs and mates together in transition and in swim wave, and produce separate results for groups too if required. Both our June 113 and August Classic have a slightly tweaked bike course for 2016 onwards, and the flatness of the course, and friendliness of the event with relaxed cut offs and varied competitor levels, make this an ideal race for both newcomers to the distance and PB hunters alike. Like all our races, we’ll be holding a free of charge familiarisation day on July 24th.
Details on all our races are available at www.113events.com.
If anyone has any special requests or questions, we’re here to help, so please just get in touch.
Cheers and happy training.
