Entry for 226 Tri 2017 is now open
Race date: 25th June 2017
Swim: 2.4 miles (3.8 km)
Bike: 112 miles (180 km)
Run: 26.2 miles (42 km)
Alongside the regular Cotswold226 will be the 226 weekend events.
Saturday PM will feature a timed and fully supported 3.8km Swim on the 226 Course.
Sunday will feature a 90 or 180km Tri Rules Cylo sportive on the 226 course alongside the 226 competitors themselves. Unlike traditional sportives, this will be fully tri rules, so no drafting, and will be fully supported with Moto Refs, Moto support, Fully stocked aid stations, closed sections of road, and Police.
We’re conscious that many athletes like to do a sportive as training for a later season IM race, but are put off by the pack riding, and the general non-acceptance of triathletes turning up on TT bikes with aero helmets and tri suits wanting to ride alone for the duration.
226 and 226 Sportive competitors will be differentiated by a different coloured race number, but will be treated the same.
Many cyclists will want to have a short run afterwards for a brick session, so we will provide secure racking, and a short marked loop
Over the last few years, the Cotswold 113 and Cotswold Classic Middle Distance Triathlons held in the Stunning Ashton Keynes Water park, have established themselves firmly on the Triathlon calendar as some of the friendliest, most flexible races about as well as possibly the flattest and fastest middle Distance Triathlons you’ll find in Europe.
To grow on this, from 2014, 113 Events have teamed up with DB Max to bring the Cotswold226 Full Distance triathlon that will build on these events to bring a super fast Long Distance race like no other.
Contrary to popular belief, the topography of the Cotswolds is actually pretty flat in the southern end of the region as well as housing some of the most stunning countryside and picturesque villages.
Our bike and run courses will take you through the type of scenery that will take your mind off your tired legs, but keep you largely on the flat to keep your speed up.
As with our existing middle distance races, Cotswold226 is aimed at those looking for an easier introduction to the distance with no specific swim and relaxed Bike cut-offs, as well as those looking to return to the distance and smash out a new Long Distance PB.
Cotswold 226 offers that ‘Big race’ experience, but with the personal touch that our 113 and Classic entrants have come to enjoy previously.
We have fully stocked aid stations, closed roads where necessary, a big event type finish area outside a pub as well as everything you could ever want to make your long distance experience the best you’ve had.
Entries for 2017 are now open priced at £240 for an individual entry and £330 for a relay.
