113 Events – 2017 Events
Good morning all, I hope this email finds you all well ?
Our 2017 Triathlon events are now open for entry, and we have an exciting new 4th event added to our races
4th June – Cotswold113 Middle Distance Triathlon (S1.9km / B90km / R21km)
Set on arguably the fastest Middle Distance Course in the UK, the Cotswold113 takes in a Single Lap Swim in the clearest swim lake around, a 2 lap bike course which is 98% Pancake flat with one short hill into Hannington at around the halfway point per lap, with a gentle rolling descent back to the return leg, followed by a 3 lap totally flat run around the lakes and local village.
With generous cutoffs, fully stocked aid stations, Police closed road sections and some of the best marshals in the sport, the June 113 typically sells out 1000 slots very quickly
24th/25th June – Cotswold226 tri (S3.8km / B180km / R42km) and 226Wknd
Our 226 tri is our full length race.
The bike course is not Pancake Flat like the Middle Distance course, but is still relatively flat, and is more steadily rolling over the two 56mile loops. Taking in some of the most picturesque Cotswold Towns and Villages, and having Police closed sections, fully stocked aid stations, motorcycle support. With generous cutoffs, and one of the quickest European Full length courses, the 226 tri is best suited to those either new to the distance looking for an easier introduction, or those looking to hit a PB over 140.3miles/226Km
The 226Wknd, is aimed at those athletes looking for a chance to test out their pacing, nutrition and kit, or just those that would like to try the distances.
With a 1.9km & 3.8km Timed Swim on the Saturday afternoon, followed by a 90 or 180km Tri Rules Sportive on the 226 Course alongside the 226 Tri itself, the Sunday bike is run fully under the rules of Triathlon with No drafting. Using the same motorcycle support, aid stations and policed roads, 226Wknd Bikers can also use a secure transition area and make the session into a brick with a short run course marked out to use too.
Like a traditional sportive, but TT bikes are more than welcome as there’s no group riding or TDF style peletons
Enter either the Swim or the bike, or combine the two with a 226Wknd discounted combo entry
August 13th – Cotswold Classic Middle Distance Tri (S1.9km / B90km / R21km)
Set on exactly the same course as the June Cotswold113 Middle Distance Tri, the August Cotswold Classic has more of an end of season race feel to it, and is popular with both clubs and groups of mates as their club championships, athletes wanting more of the summer to train for their first middle distance race, or those that want a MD race to use in the warm up to a later season Ironman event.
You also enter both the June 113 and August Classic with a discounted Combo entry so you can track your progress throughout the season.
If your club or group want to use it as a championship, we can make sure you’re all racked together in transition, have sequential race numbers and go off in the same wave. We can even produce separate results if required and make this everything you’d need to have a race within the race.
Group discounts are available by getting in touch at graeme@113events.com
Sept TBC – New Swindon Half Marathon
For those of you local to the area will know, the Swindon Half Marathon, in it’s existing format, has come to an end this year.
113 Events have been pushing to run this event ourselves for a few years in a brand new format running to and from the town centre, and on a flat course of closed roads taking in the sights and history of Swindon
We now have been successfully awarded by the Council to take this on for 2017. Plans are still very early, but our plan is to run this in the same way we run our triathlons, so expect a nice flat course, big race feel with a personal touch, and some of the best aid stations in the running world as well as bands, live timing, great atmosphere and fantastic medals and goodie bags.
We will have a date fixed in the next couple of months, and entries will open online at the beginning of next year
We’re here to help, so if anyone gets any questions, or just wants to talk Triathlon or running, please don’t hesitate to get in touch
Cheers, and we hope to see many of you back racing with us again in 2017
